Iowa State University needs your assistance with a new study that seeks to map the technology needs of machinery manufacturers and suggest future growth strategies for this important sector of the Iowa economy.
ISU’s Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS) this month is sending a survey to machinery manufacturers around the state asking questions focused on identifying their technology needs. CIRAS then will analyze the needs of the sector overall and explore what steps should be taken to enhance its overall profitability and stimulate economic growth.
CIRAS needs help from local Economic Development professionals to ensure that the survey reaches and is completed by all of our machinery manufacturers around the state.
As you interact with your machinery manufacturers this month, please let them know of the importance to the economic vitality of the state of filling out this survey. Please review the link at the bottom of the page to see a county by county breakout of machinery manufacturers that are on our survey mailing list. If there are machinery producers in your counties that are not included, please contact Mark Reinig at email@example.com , 515-231-4150 to have them included in the survey. Or, if you prefer, you can simply direct them to the survey at:
Once all the responses are received, CIRAS plans to prepare a report detailing the statewide needs of Iowa machinery manufacturers and how that sector in Iowa compares to the rest of the nation. We then will invite the machinery manufacturers to an Innovation Summit on April 2nd, 2015 – a one-day working session where industry and CIRAS experts will share our analysis of the results and discuss the leading-edge technologies most relevant to the industry.
At the summit, companies will have an opportunity to work collaboratively with industry and ISU experts to discover new ways to integrate these technologies into their companies. The goal is for machinery manufacturers to develop a specific action plan for their businesses, integrating those leading technologies, that reduces costs, creates a competitive advantage and ultimately improves profitability.
Please help CIRAS gather as much information as possible.
